Best New Releases from July 2018
Summer is in full swing hitting up with fresh albums, exciting releases, and impressive remixes. July sees Jimi Jules bringing his fabulous mix to Watergate Records and releasing two EPs with his stunning work, Quarion returning to Drumpoet Community with an elegant, sonically rich release, the Irish maestro The Drifter reworking Nebua’s "Solar" tune which was road tested by the top echelon producers such as John Talabot, two releases from the German cult techno collective Giegling, Mano Le Tough making a stunning contribution for Sven Vath's annual Cocoon compilation series, Danish charismatic trio WhoMadeWho remixing a track from their incredibly talented drummer and producer Thomas Barford, Belfast producer LOR (Lunar Orbit Rendezvous) launched his LOREC record label with a first eponymous single giving a perfect glimpse into the forthcoming album, the Ukrainian musical storyteller Vakula remixing a track from Dauwd's 2017 debut album and a remarkable contribution to Dutch Native Response's compilation by the talented newcomer and record label co-founder, Queniv.

Giegling
The Weimar-based German techno collective Giegling continues to strive forward in creating their own oeuvre with a thrilling new “Haus” EP by the label affiliate Vril. The Hamburg-born artist has been steadily caving himself a reputation as one of the most promising darkroom techno producers. Besides Giegling, his work appeared on Dystopian, Delsin, Forum, and others.
Masterfully balancing hypnotizing rhythms with musical elegance, "Rinse" is a mesmerizing piece of melancholic techno, one which touches magically upon an ambient atmosphere and evocative mood.

Native Response
After releasing a well-received “Ornithogallum” EP by the Native Response label co-founder Human Space Machine, the Amsterdam-based imprint returns with a fresh electronic weapon, an impressive compilation that showcases the label’s impeccable talent pool. The eight-track vibrant collection “004” draws together a label all-star lineup, featuring Nathan Surreal, Human Space Machine, Queniv, and Eversines.
One of the many highlights in the compilation is a dazzling “No Reply” by the incredibly talented Dutch producer, Native Response label co-founder and a member of the newly formed De Lichting collective Queniv. He crafts an intelligent, slightly leftfield voyage through the dreamy mood melancholia of broken beat rhythms sprinkled with hypnotic acid lines. The melancholy atmosphere gives to this track a truly magic touch.

Lunar Orbit Rendezvous

With releases on prominent labels such as Cin Cin, Exit Strategy and Get Physical, Belfast’s rising star LOR (Lunar Orbit Rendezvous) takes his artistic gift and vision to a higher realm of creativity. In July, he has launched his LOREC record label by revealing imprint’s inaugural release, a single from his forthcoming debut, self-titled album “Lunar Orbit Rendezvous”. The album features ten tracks and described as “bold, both in concept and sound, it’s the work of an artist doing into his own”.
Lunar Orbit Rendezvous (Lunar Orbit Rendezvous EP) ignites an instant rush of excitement within the listener with its twisted vibrant grooves, rich cosmic electronic sounds, raw captivating energy and genre-bending refinement. This first single gives a perfect glimpse into the upcoming album and a lunar universe that LOR has created.

Drumpoet Community
Drumpoet Community dances off into the summer heat with an enthralling new EP by a respectful Swiss artist and co-founder of the Retreat imprint Yanneck Salvo, aka Quarion. The leading proponent of vibrant house and techno, Quarion has previously released his records on labels such as Muhk, Drumpoet Community, Tamed Musiq, Plak Records and his own vinyl-only imprint, Retreat. He now returns to Drumpoet Community with a spellbinding and affecting new EP, “Cobblestone”. The three-track package beautifully melds a hypnotic groove, effectiveness, and deep magnetism.
On the title track, "Cobblestone" Quarion unleashes his deep and emotive dancefloor intelligence with a blend of infectious, undulating rhythms, dancing bright chords and delicate melody. All elements slowly and subtly develop into elegant, sonically rich release.

The French Family N.A.M.E imprint continues to shine a light on the freshest talent emerging from the underground house and techno. Their latest release welcomes back Nibua, the former member of the French duo Datametrik Guillaume Aubin, for a gorgeous “Solar” EP that comes with superb remixes courtesy of Maeve honcho The Drifter, Lossless co-head Matthias Schober and Maintro.
Exceptional work has once again been delivered by an incredibly talented and charismatic Irish producer The Drifter, who has taken on the remix duties for the title track. “Solar” reworked into a breathtaking, melodic and airy reverb-drenched version providing the hypnotic groove and elegance that is needed to make this a perfect peak time voyage.

Giegling
German cult techno collective Giegling returns to their own imputing with the next installment, this time it’s a delightful compilation providing the very best of the current house and techno trends. “Insel” EP brings together a family of like-minded producers, all striving to move hearts, bodies, and minds. The four-track collection features essential members of Giegling family Kettenkarussell, Ateq, Edward and KANN’s co-head honcho map.ache.
Kettenkarussell, the German duo of Leafar Legov and Konstantin, introduces the compilation on an exquisite note with a stunningly beautiful “Maybe”. First heard during the Giegling Records label party at ADE, this tune has been a staple of their live sets for the past year. This remarkably timeless gem is elevating, and intricate in its sophistication, musical elegance and delicate melancholy.

Berlin-based producer and one-third of the Berlin collective, party, and radio show “African Acid Is The Future”, Dauwd has been releasing intricate and sophisticated electronic music via Ghostly International and Kompakt.
After an intensely positive response to his 2017 debut album “Theory Of Colors”, Dauwd has followed up with a four-track remix package via Ninja Tune offshore Technicolor. Along by Dauwd’s stunning piano rework of “Analogische Memories”, “Theory Of Colors - Versions” EP contains two impressive interpretations of ‘Murmure’, courtesy of another co-founder of the radio show “African Acid Is The Future” Rouge Mécanique, and the Ukrainian producer and Leleka label boss Vakula, who contributed a remix of "Macadam Therapy”.
The Ukrainian musical storyteller Vakula breathed a new life into a hazy and atmospheric "Macadam Therapy” waving in the perfect mix of deep and introspective moods.

This May Sven Vath’s annual Cocoon alphabet compilation series presents their letter R. Joining the dots between moody techno, deep and melodic house, functional and effective dancefloor tools, music anticipated “Cocoon Compilation R” features contributions from artists reflecting the quality of label’s creative vision. The collection sees a total of 12 exclusive tracks, from established artists such as Mano Le Tough, Isolee, Lusine, Pig&Dan, Inigo Kennedy, Ambivalent & Alden Tyrell, ROD, Eduardo De La Calle among others. Here is what Sven Vath is intended to say about this compilation:

Irish producer Mano Le Tough continues his acclaimed discography with a slow-brewing “Vanishing Landscapes”. Evocative moods are drawn in by buoyant pads and melody-driven powerful bass line that is infused with a hypnotism injected rhythms and endless gorgeous melodies.

The treasure trove of a talent, the man of multifaceted sound palettes, the Swiss musician and producer Jimi Jules brings a powerful and soulful mix to the Watergate mix series catalogue. The supremely exciting collection of twenty-one tracks, thirteen of which have been produced, remixed or edited exclusively for this mix, is a perfect example of Jules creative vision.
Following his mix, Watergate Records also releases two EPs from Jimi Jules, “Midnight Juggernaut” and “VA” respectively. The “VA” features a slew of impressive collaborations with Jesaya’s “+4 BPM” edit of German celebrated duo Âme’s “119 BPM”, Domenico Ferrari’s, who also makes up one-half of Pacifica, “Parkuhr”. Jules puts his golden touch into two remixes, masterfully crafting a mesmerizing version of Egopusher’s “Flake” and seductive Ed Ed & Petja Virikko’s “Sundroina”, featuring Jinadu.

The incredibly talented and charismatic WhoMadeWho established themselves as an outstanding electronic music band with an amazing pop sensibility weather with their remarkable performances, stunning albums, EPs or remixes of fellow artists. WhoMadeWho came through with a hypnotic version of “Hope In A Box”, taking a listener on a journey into a futuristic world full of magnetic vibe.
