PREMIERE: Mateis e. Aqir - Mind Evolving Over Forests [Yield]
Mateis e. aqir, the son of Pyrenees… If you haven’t heard of him then consider this, your introduction. Not one to stick to genres or niches, Mateis seems to float among many, offering his complex, discerning take and crafting statements rather than releases. His last, an LP off of Seb Wildblood’s All My Thoughts, had listeners scrambling in an attempt to quantify what it was exactly… Phrases like; Ambient House (says Hard Wax) , Tropical House (Rate your Music ) or post-balearic exoticism and tribal percussion (inverted Audio) , i don’t Know… The root of this all however being that the music is good. Good music has no genre, just that it is good.
Keeping in line with this theme, we are happy to premiere, Mind Evolving Over Forests. Out soon on Kaap’s Yield imprint as part of a winding 7 track release, the five and a half minute tale evokes a deep breath almost. Harkening back to those introspective moments where it’s just you and yourself, lost among the swirling thoughts of the night.
