Delayed at ... ADE 2019
by Zach Huenink
Amsterdam Dance Event is fast approaching, and hopefully you’ve got some things planned. If you don’t, or even if you do, we at Delayed have made a short list of the madness that is ADE. In the time of a million distractions, less is certainly more. Below you’ll find broken out by day, each of our top events with a link and short explanation as to why we’ve picked that event. We hope you have a fantastic time and as for us here at Delayed, it’ll be no sleep till Brooklyn.
Wednesday - 16th of October
ADE 2019 • Instore Sessions • Rush Hour
It would be hard to not mention Rush Hour in an ADE short list, as such we’re not! Consistently rated highly among locals and travelers alike, swing by for their in-store sessions going all week and to grab some new tunes.
ADE 2019 • Instore Sessions • Bordello A Parigi
Coincidentally enough in the same vein as the last, Bordello A Parigi, another great record store in the ‘dam is hosting a series of in-stores throughout the week as well which we’re keen on attending. Notably Mor Elian and a surprise b2b between Peach and Pieter Jansen.
SoHaSo: Manamana, Far Out RS, Miss Jay, Nuno dos Santos & more
Something is happening somewhere, and it’s happening on Wednesday. Our highlight of the opening day of ADE, with Nuno Dos Santos at the helm. A Delayed favorite, SoHaSo has invited Sevensol & Map.ache aka Manamana to grace the decks in what is sure to be a hell of an opener.
Thursday - 17th of October
Moving right into Thursday, we’ve got drinks with a fine group of people, from which you may recognize as past Delayed interviewees. Enjoy some ambient time off with Bas Dobbelaer, Vand, Mattheis and family.
Manjumasi + Listed Amsterdam Showcase w/ Atish, Birds Ov Paradise, DJ Dory and more
Speaking of family, Thursday’s highlight hits very close to home. Atish’s imprint, Manjumasi and San Francisco based promoters Listed are joining for a soiree with sets from Atish, DJ Dory, Birds ov Paradise, Tim Engelhardt and Mark Slee .
Friday - 18th of October
De Lichting Presents 'Drie' – Album Release
Fans of discerning electro, house, ambient and everything in between should be paying attention already to this Dutch collective but if not, their new album is fantastic. As being the release party, come swing by to meet the artists behind the proverbial curtain.
Already a Dutch institution, De School starts their latest lesson in weekenders with their 2019 ADE event. Out of all the amazing talent, we’re keeping our eyes on DJ Dustin, Eversines, John Talabot, Kia, Konduku, Tammo Hesselink, upsammy to name a few.
Our love of ambient is a known one. As such we were very happy to find out Giegling is hosting an all ambient evening at Klaproos. We’ll be looking forward to a chill session to balance out the surrealness of ADE.
Saturday - 19th of October
This Is Not... A Party @ ADE '19
Contrary to the name, this collection of music lovers is quickly becoming just that, quite a party. Rising out of the fog filled corridors and rooms of clubs all over the world, the power of great music is connecting people and creating incredible new experiences.
Delayed’s favorite Rotterdam based label Nous’klaer is back again with what is their fifth collaboration between Oberman’s imprint and Amsterdam based Dogma. The 12 hour session will take place in a brand new pop-up space which should give ample room for the forward thinking labels to flex their musical muscles.
The lads (Mano Le Tough, The Drifter, and Baikal) are back at it again this year for their yearly ‘Maeve Rave’. Last years encompassed two different rooms and kept a fantastic crowd till the sunlight came shining through the windows of Het Sieraad . This years’ will be no different as Phil Kieran joins the ranks along with Tijana T returning to round out the night.
Sunday - 20th of October
The German based collective needs no introduction. If you know you know, and if you don’t know, then head to Paradiso to find out. As with their music and art, the utmost care is taken in establishing a proper vibe. Go early and go for a while.
Breakfast Club - ADE w/ Donato Dozzy (4hrs), I-F, Courtesy a.o.
In the case of Giegling not fitting the bill we have a Nous’klaer take over of Radion that will surely fit your closing needs. Tammo Hesselink, Mattheis, Konduku and Oberman all taking turns in killing off those ADE Sunday woes.
Clone Records Pop-up Store - ADE
Finally last, but certainly not least we have found for you a Hivern Discs takeover of the Clone Records in-store sessions. This should be great and a fantastic bookend to the 2019 ADE week.
