Favorite Mixes from April 2022

Our list of favorite mixes features the return of some of our favorite DJs that have been quiet in the past few years and newcomers that bring fresh energy to the table. It's a mixture of different styles that can fit your current mood.

Louise Chen w/Frank & Tony

The phenomenal duo, Francis Harris and Anthony Collins as Frank & Tony, is back! The music world needed this reunion badly. This mix is made entirely of new unreleased stuff from the duo. However, we won't be waiting for too long for some of the tracks, like 'Dream Vibration. The new EP is scheduled for June 10th. What a nice feeling to have F&T magic back!

Vlada - DIM263

Dimension Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary in September, and preparations are already in full swing. With a mind-blowing line-up already announced, Dimensions Festival will be one to remember. One of the DJs who will make her debut at Dimensions Festival is Vlada, who always takes us for a ride with her quirky style behind the decks. Vlada's mix for Dimensions Festival's podcast series is a classic after-hour material - groovy, dirty, and eccentric.

Rey Colino - RL 027

Whenever I see the mix from Rey Colino pop up in my feed, I know that there will be an hour or so well spent. Kalahari Oyster Cult's founder has a unique talent for selecting uplifting, dancy, and very tasteful tracks. The mix Rey made for Berlin's record label Radiant Love, and their podcast is an eclectic, energetic journey that knows no genre, just good energy.

Carsten Jost - XLR8R Podcast 744

In anticipation of his upcoming album, the Dial Records co-founder, David Lieske, aka Carsten Jost, stepped behind the decks and made yet another brilliantly told music story for XLR8R. The mix is very well balanced and explores different shades of house music. Jost doesn't hold back in this mix and keeps things intricate with constant changes in the rhythm section.

Sewer Sendec avec Alfred Czital & Ben Kaczor

Our first doubleheader on this month's list comes from Harmony Rec's own Alfred Czital and KCZ founder Ben Kaczor who played one hour each in Martinou's radio show, Sewer Sender. During the first hour, Alfred delivers a laid-back ride that goes places. The first hour keeps the listener's engagement in check, from deep and dub techno to trip-hop and breakbeat. During the second hour, Ben brings a bit of light, and in a moment, the listener is being transported from the dark side room onto a daylight rooftop party. A perfect pairing for a doubleheader!

JakoJako - Sunday Mix

Crack Magazine's 'Sunday Mix' series welcomes Berghain resident, JakoJako, who recently released a marvelous album, 'Metamorphose.' This is what JakoJako said about the mix: "For this mix, I chose the kind of music I'd typically listen to on a Sunday," says JakoJako. "There's some non-electronic tracks, synthesizer music, and unreleased or forthcoming music from myself and my friends."

ABSIS - Oslated Special Mix 017

Ahead of the upcoming EP on Oslated, Salva Coromina, aka ABSIS, made this mind-bending mix for the Jeju Island-based record label and their podcast series. Ahead of his performance at Barcelona's Mostra Festival, Delayed favorite Estrato Aurora delivers an hour of unreleased material with complex, relentless grooves, magnificent atmosphere, and hypnotic textures.

TET - Fundraiser For Ukraine #012

Another wonderful mix from Munich-based TET who's slowly but surely stealing our hearts with each new mix. This is what TET said about the mix:

'The set was recorded on the studio of Radio 80000 in Munich on the 13th of March in the second part of the Fundraiser for Ukraine event. For this set I used the tracks from the charity compilations as well as the tracks by my Ukrainian friends recorded during the war.'

By buying this music you support Ukraine and its artists

Utopian - Fragments 23

Utopian is back on our list with quite a statement. This 'slow burner' mix does magic when listened to on headphones! Here's what Utopian said about the mix: 'I always try to make something special and craft something as personal as possible with harmonious and smooth transitions. At the moment, I am obsessed with mixing at 80-90 bpm because I believe you can achieve higher degrees of intensity despite the low speed. I am in the constant process of exploring the possibilities of mixing music, so who knows what I'll be playing next? '

Sara Dziri - Crack Mix 440

Brussels-based Not Your Techno founder Sara Dziri made an energetic, peak-time techno mix for Crack Magazine. This is excellent workout listening!

ZigZach - Save Music SG

One of the leading figures in Singapore's nightlife scene ZigZach is back with another wonderful mix. It's been a minute since we last heard from Zach, but we can say that he hasn't lost his sharpness behind the decks. The mix was made exclusively for the #SaveMusicSG movement, whose goal is to raise awareness and bring forward discussion with the Singapore government about how strict nightlife rules affect the livelihood and mental state of musicians and the people living in Singapore in this warped reality.

The mix is a groovy, new wave journey that flows on trippy arpeggiators and cosmic melodies.

Villete - SoHaSo Podcast 049

The Amsterdam-based Anne Korteweg, aka Villete, delivers a beautiful meditative journey for the latest installment of SoHaSo's podcast series. The mix is made of peaceful oscillations that embrace self-reflection and evoke warm nostalgia.

A true deep techno extravaganza by one of our favorites, Polygonia. The mix is exclusive for Feta Records' podcast, in which Polygonia creates after-hour vibes with complex rhythms and hypnotic atmospheres.

Antonio Vasquez - DJ set @ Calma, Madrid

Antonio Vasquez, a Seville-based producer and DJ, is known for his trippy releases on record labels such as Hypnus and Semantica. The recording from his set at Madrid's CALMA party is a perfectly paced journey that seamlessly blends ambient, leftfield electronica, and deep techno.
