Bassiani invites Garçon / Podcast #208
The Amenthia Recordings crew consistently blows us away at Delayed, no matter the format. Last month, Agonis' set scrambled our brains in the best way possible. This month, Garçon steps up to rewire our synapses.
His Bassiani mix is pure smoothness – a rhythmic powerhouse that shatters expectations. It's a rollercoaster of twists, turns, and rumbling low-end, punctuated by trippy synth stabs. This is exactly what techno needs in 2024: bold, surprising, and innovative.
Kaspiann live PA @ Helsinki UG 3.2.2024
April belonged to Kaspiann. The deep techno producer, a mainstay of Helsinki's underground scene, stepped into the well-deserved limelight. Fresh off his phenomenal debut on Mantis (which also landed on our Favorite Releases list), Kaspiann delivered a masterclass in low-slung, hypnotic techno.
Recorded somewhere on the outskirts of Helsinki, this nearly hour-long set pulsates. Earthy, rumbling basslines form the foundation, while shimmering percussion adds a layer of brilliance. Over this bedrock, Kaspiann unleashes mind-bending sequences and intricate synth work. It's just under an hour, a prime example of what we've dubbed "seaweed techno" – music that sways and undulates, drawing you in.
Luna Ludmila Live in Paradiso (Pink Noise 013)
Luna Ludmila just unleashed an amazing live set to whet our appetites before her upcoming "Hoisin Dreams" EP on Something Happening Somewhere. Recorded at Amsterdam's Paradiso, this set is pure, low-end dub bliss. Ludmila lays down a thick groove that feels heavy and hypnotic, punctuated by sharp dub stabs and relentless percussion. It's a proper head nodder, making the wait for "Hoisin Dreams" even tougher.
A Far Blue concept by Kim Kenis - 'Philosophic Paraphrases'
Mixes from the Far Blue concept series frequently make our list, and that says enough about their thoughtful curation. The latest addition to this lineup comes from an exceptional DJ who is steadily solidifying her presence in the underground electronic music scene, Kim Kenis. Crafted with the dance floor in mind, Kim offers a preview of what awaits attendees at her upcoming performances, starting with the Pintai x Far Blue event in Amsterdam on May 24th followed by the Above Below Festival shortly after. If you like your techno deep and hypnotic, well, it doesn't get much better than this.
Bryan Kasenic @ Paral·lel 2023
Last year's Paral.lel Festival truly epitomized the essence of techno music. Renowned figures from the scene illuminated their visions for the genre's trajectory, offering a glimpse into its near future. This mix, curated by Bryan Kasenic from NYC's Bunker, exemplifies a rare skill possessed by exceptional DJs: the ability to seamlessly tailor their style to the moment. Bryan's performance on Sunday, the festival's final day, bathed in sunlight around 4 pm, stands out as one of the highlights, if not among the top three sets, given the exceptional performances that preceded it. His set exuded quirkiness, groove, and an infectious sense of fun that enraptured the audience. Even after two days of revelry, Bryan managed to elicit multiple "hands in the air" moments. It's a bliss that we have this set online to relive those moments again.
vurt podcast 60 - Toki Fuko (live at vurt.)
Moscow's techno powerhouse Toki Fuko blew the roof off Seoul's infamous club vurt. with a relentlessly energetic live set. There is never a dull moment in this set which rewires your brain, shaping reality into a new form. Fuko used raw, untamed energy to propel listeners into a transcendent state, a primal experience that bypassed intellectual analysis.

One of the latest gems in beautifully curated Music For Interstellar Spacecrafts series comes from Paris-based multidisciplinary artist, Velvia This meticulously crafted mix plunges us into the heart of the HD1 galaxy, with a phenomenal track selection that's sure to resonate with fans of deep, atmospheric music.
