Favorite Mixes from August 2022
While hot summer days still hover over us, a good soundtrack can make all the difference in making the day more enjoyable. The mixes we enjoyed listening to in August fit different settings so feel free to get lost in hours of magnificent music tales from the DJs worldwide. Mixes are listed in no particular order.
OWL - Page 80
Just a few weeks after making an incredible mix for our “Sundays are for...'' series, OWL leaves us in awe with his contribution to one of the most exciting podcast series online - The Memoir. As we featured many sets from this series in the past, you may already be familiar with the concept behind it - artists make 60+min mixes entirely of their productions, often featuring primarily unreleased material. OWL grabbed this opportunity with both hands and brought us a mind-boggling journey that slowly unfolds from lush ambient into a powerful deep hypnotic techno. Just to make a U-turn in the final quarter and through recognizable OWL's atmospheric drum'&'bass, go back to a lovely downtempo and ambient.
Alberto Iniesta - Line #22
Madrid-based Alberto Iniesta delivers one of the most impressive mixes we have listened to lately. This 4h:30min mix is a beautiful slow-burner escapade that takes place on the bottom of the ocean. Super deep and away from the surface, the story captivates the listener and doesn't let go until the end. This one is a ‘must listen’ mix.
Roza Terenzi - RL 033
A powerful and uplifting trip by Melbourne via Berlin, Roza Terenzi. Exclusive for Radiant Love, this mix is an ideal partner for your next run. There is no dull moment during these 77min with Roza keeping the energy level constantly ‘in red.’
Monochrome presents Eté II: Adhémar
Mixes from Adhémar can't go unnoticed here at Delayed. The incredible multi-talented artist made a two-hour ambient journey that every so often adds a rumbling beat underneath immersive and captivating textures and melancholic melodies, creating an ideal listening material for a moment of tranquility.
Danza Nativa invites 012 - Polygonia
Buenos Aires-based record label Danza Nativa invited IO co-founder Polygonia to contribute to their podcast series. As expected, it turned out to be a match made in heaven. When it comes to deep, percussion-driven techno, a few producers and DJs from the newer generation do it as consistently and innovative as Polygonia. In this mix, Polygonia channels her ‘inner peak time’ DJ and delivers a driving, dark, mind-bending techno trip.
De Lichting invites Bas Dobbelaer, August 10, 2022
De Lichting collective and Bas Dobbelaer are crucial parts of a new generation of Dutch artists that slowly but surely are taking over the vibrating Dutch music scene. A few weeks ago aforementioned joined forces and presented the latest mix from Bas Dobbelaer performed live in De Lichting's radio show on Radio Radio. This is Bas in his element. Deep, trippy, and atmospheric, this mix is the epitome of how after-hours should sound.
Maara - Truancy Volume 295
The last two years have been quite exciting for the Montreal-based producer and DJ, Maara, after a string of excellent releases on NAFF, Isla, and Radiant Love Plus put her in the spotlight. Currently, on a European tour, this young talented DJ found time to record a mix and answer a few questions for the Truants platform. The mix is a true energizer which would shake every dancefloor. This is what Maara said about the mix: "I wanted this mix to encapsulate live energy and include some of my dancefloor favorites. While the first part of the mix is chill, after 20 mins I start to focus on more stuff I like to play out. I'm challenging myself to embrace both improvisation and imperfection, and stray away from making super formulaic mixes. I hope it's still a blast to listen to! I've included lots of forthcoming music from friends that I love."
Lukas Freisem & F-on - HOWLONGISNOW #3
A double-header from Lukas Freisem & F-on for Whispering Signals' podcast series HOWLONGISNOW is a two-hour tranquil journey fulfilled with warm, tactile soundscapes that create a visceral sense of isolation and soul-deep reflection.
Joan Gila - Oslated Special Mix 023
Jeju Island-based Oslated have got yet another gem in their podcast series. This time it comes from HOC Radio curator Joan Gila. Joan takes us on a carefully constructed ride through cinematic ambient and atmospheric downtempo that slowly shape into deep, low-slung techno.
Felix K - Patterns of Perception 100
This mix is a perfect material if you want to present someone who has never heard UK breakbeat, what is this genre all about? Truly a breathtaking 4h mix from Berlin-based Felix K made exclusively for the wonderfully curated Patterns of Perception podcast series that is celebrating its 100th edition.
Donato Dozzy - Visioni Sonore Della via Lattea
An incredible ambient journey by the one and only Donato Dozzy. This is what Donato said about the mix: This set was recorded in the National Park of Circeo on the 24.8.22 a few meters away from the Tyrrhenian Sea. There were 60 people audience lying on the sand, a few candles and a 4+1 Turbosound system. I played my own productions including a few unreleased tunes. Thanks to "Le Passeggiate Poetiche" and Exotique.it for making this possible. I hope you enjoy the ride same as we did on that night.
His Master's Voice - EPM #156
Florian Kochon, aka His Master's Voice, never ceases to impress us with his mixes. The latest mix for EPM Podcast is another eclectic mind-bending journey that very few DJs would be able to put together. Without knowing what to expect next, this mix keeps a listener on the edge of their seat through its entirety and shows HMV's talent for incredible storytelling.
Facta & K-Lone - 4 hour B2B at Nowadays, NYC August 6, 2022
A few weeks ago, one of the best clubs in NYC, Nowadays, hosted a duo that runs a marvelous Wisdom Teeth record label, Facta, and K-Lone. Facta and K-Lone played this trippy and eclectic 4h B2B set, which perfectly represents the style of Wisdom Teeth that we all like.
Nadia Struiwigh - RA.845
Incredibly talented Nadia Struiwigh returns to her roots and delivers a powerful, mind-bending techno mix for RA's podcast series. With this mix, Nadia shows that even though her production output got a little mellower, she still has tour de force techno going through her veins. This is peak time techno in its best form. Edgy, driving, and powerful.
Nems-B - Melifera Podcast 21
The Phonons founder, Nems B, delivers a rumbling, driving trip in his latest mix for Melifera Records' podcast series. The mix is powerful yet deep, a combination that does wonder when appropriately executed, and Nems-B for sure does it so well during these 80min.
Erika - Mysteries of the Deep CXXXIX
The latest mix in the lovely Mysteries Of The Deep podcast series comes from Detroit's own Erika. She made a deep, atmospheric journey full of sonic soundscapes and dark ambient tones.
Atish - Surface Tension, August 2022
Manjumasi co-founder and our dear friend Atish made hot August days more enjoyable with this wonderful summery melodic mix. Over the years, Atish spoiled us with his very well-executed mixes, and this one is no different. Programming, flow, and track selection fit just perfectly for your next rooftop hang.
MIURA - LT Podcast 235
One of the latest mixes in Lobster Theremin's podcast series comes from talented Ukrainian DJ MIURA, who currently resides in Berlin. MIURA delivers uplifting house vibes with this energetic and groovy mix.
ABSIS & Vand - Observatory 038
Another double-header on our list is courtesy of Sungate records and their Observatory series. Their guests are no strangers to Delayed, and ABSIS and Vand bring their A game for this occasion. During the first hour, ABSIS takes a listener through the hypnotic ride of leftfield electronica and deep techno, while Vand decides to explore the depths of dub house and dub techno.
Betonkust - The ‘Ransom Note’ Mix
The Dutch producer Betonkust delivers an exciting, eclectic mix for Ransom Note that explores synth-pop, electro, and dub realms. Outstanding track selections make this mix a true gem.
