Favorite Mixes from October 2021

Whether you’re on the move or self-reflecting at the comfort of your home, working out or having a dinner party, these phenomenal music journeys that we enjoyed the most in October will add that special touch and be a great companion.

Kia - FHUO #60

The mastermind behind a promising new record label and brilliant podcast series Animalia, the Melbourne-based Kia, doesn't cease to impress us with each new mix and her talent for storytelling when behind the decks. Her latest mix for the 'For Home Use Only' platform is ideally suited for what the name suggests - home listening and drifting away in the comfort of your room. The mix is a slow burner with great pacing and smooth flow.

Tristan Arp - Dekmantel Podcast 356

October was the month we listened to a lot of Tristan Arp. The Mexico City-based artist released a brilliant album, 'Sculpturegardening' on Wisdom Teeth, just a few weeks ago, which showcases the artist's style of complex downtempo rhythms, glitches, lush pads, and intricate percussions. The mix Tristan Arp made for Dekmantel is a continuation of the journey he started with 'Sculpturegardening.' Where his album is best enjoyed in the comfort of your home; this mix is clearly more dance floor oriented. It will take you to places you didn't know you wanted to be.

Sean La’Brooy - BSRMIX #116

The co-founder of Analogue Attic Recordings, Sean La'Brooy, is not a stranger here at Delayed. We've been enjoying his marvelous productions tremendously in the past, but I believe this is the first mix of his we feature here, and what a mix this is. Like his studio work, this mix has a dreamy, celestial stamp all over it, with lovely piano melodies and organic percussions. The second part of the mix gets a little groovier with a brilliant jazz grand finale in the last ten minutes or so.

Katiusha - Oscillate Mix #41

Berlin via London-based DJ and radio host, Katiusha and her latest mix for Oscillate is one of the listening highlights from October. The mix showcases her vast music knowledge, which spans from ambient to trip-hop to EBM to techno and beyond. This type of mix, if executed properly (like in this case), makes all the difference for a listener. It's super engaging, fun listening, with a fantastic track selection and great mixing.

Adhémar - Revelation Session #191

Clement Davot, aka Adhémar, has over time become one of our favorite artists when it comes to slow-burning, deep ambient techno. Both his work in the studio and behind the decks can be enjoyed on a dark foggy dance floor or in the comfort of your home, which is not easy to achieve at all. His latest mix for Revelation Session features several of his originals, edits, and remix, as well as tracks by Daniel[i], Konduku, and Doltz, to name a few.

Laima Adelaide - On The 5th Day Podcast #140

It's never enough of deep, dubby, and hypnotic techno journeys. For this occasion, we have Stuttgart-based Laima Adelaide that delivers a lovely hour-long mix with a very nice pace and flow ideal for headphones listening during the walk in nature.

Hoshina Anniversary - Truancy Volume 283

ESP Institute affiliate and one of the most exciting producers hailing from Japan lately, Hoshina Anniversary delivered a mind-bending mix for Truants. The mix is a wicked downtempo roller that keeps on giving with each new minute passed. Here's what Hoshina Anniversary said about the mix: "I usually make my mixtapes with 100% of my originals, so this time I tried to bring out my own colors while including some of my favorite songs (Parris, Ryuichi Sakamoto, etc.). Of course, "Japan" was the theme, and I tried to create unique music that can only be heard here. I like BPM94, so that's what I used for the most part. There are some new songs and danceable elements, but there is also more of an artistic side to it."
