Les Chaos Ambiants Festival 2024
Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Morvan Regional Natural Park, Les Chaos Ambiants Festival is an experience that harmonizes cutting-edge electronic music, visual arts, and the cultural richness of Burgundy-Franche-Comté. From September 20th to 22nd, 2024, this boutique festival organized by the Pauza association will take over Sommant, offering a unique celebration that resonates with the ethos of eco-conscious creativity and regional pride.
A Name with Resonance: The Origins of Les Chaos Ambiants
The festival’s name, Les Chaos Ambiants, draws inspiration from the rugged granite formations of the Rochers du Carnaval in Uchon. These natural landmarks, steeped in geological history, evoke the chaos of nature—an apt metaphor for the festival’s commitment to raising awareness about global warming and the environmental challenges we face. "Ambiants" further hints at one of the festival's musical directions.
The Setting: Morvan’s Unspoilt Beauty
Imagine dancing under a sky filled with stars, away from the suffocating glow of city lights, surrounded by a serene lake and towering pine forests. This is the Morvan Regional Natural Park, a lush haven that serves as the perfect stage for the festival. With its pristine environment, the park isn’t just a backdrop but a central character in this narrative—one that celebrates and preserves nature.

Visual Arts: Contemporary Archaeology in Focus
Visual artist Alice Bidault brings her unique vision to the festival, exploring the concept of contemporary archaeology. Her work intertwines history, architecture, and collective memory, creating art that is both thought-provoking and deeply connected to the environment. Bidault’s installations will provide a reflective space within the festival, contrasting the kinetic energy of the musical performances.
Cultural Immersion: More than Just a Festival
Beyond the music and art, Les Chaos Ambiants explores the cultural and natural heritage of Burgundy-Franche-Comté. The festival’s commitment to the region is evident in its location—featuring the idyllic Sommant Lake and the Château de Valogne—and its culinary offerings. Festival-goers can indulge in local delicacies, from Burgundy wines to Morvan beers, with the event spotlighting the best of the region’s gastronomy.
The festival is designed with sustainability at its core, ensuring that Morvan's beauty is preserved for future generations. This eco-responsible approach extends to every aspect of the event, from waste management to promoting local produce, making it a model for festivals worldwide.
