TRACK OF THE MOMENT: Cyclades - Yiasemi [Cyclades]

French duo Cyclades, also known as Modern House Quintet, have just released their third EP on their Cyclades label, almost two years after the release of the previous one. The comeback EP continues a string of dreamy, ethereal releases, the signature sound of the duo under both of their monikers. Yiasemi, a beautiful deep house roller named after a café in the Plaka neighborhood of Athens, starts out with airy synth pads that are sustained throughout the track, making you sway your head slowly while daydreaming about being in Greece. The syncopated kick pattern gives the track a floaty feel while sharp high hats and rhythmic percussion make it groovy. A new melody entering at the five minute mark pushes one into an even deeper reverie. The track slowly winds down as the kick comes to a halt and a final sustained note brings us back to reality.
