VIDEO PREMIERE: Luke C. and Rhys Carlill - Tred Over My Body (Audio-Visual ambient mix)
'Tred Over My Body' is the second in a series of audio-visual mixes from Luke C. and Rhys Carlill, following on from 'Nothing Like A Dream,' released late last year. Where its predecessor paired an hour of all original video shot by Luke and Rhys with a live DJ mix from Luke featuring mostly other artist's music (a track from his 'T.O.M.B.' LP made the cut), 'Tred Over My Body' pairs 35 minutes of original music with repurposed, VHS versions of classic films, essentially flipping the theme on its head.
The new piece was manifested via a thrift store find of a documentary on Route 66, the infamous highway that cuts through America's West. From there, films that took place along the route were added to the concept, chosen and edited to create symbolism and a depiction of a personal narrative of lives lived in the western American cities so attached to decadence, euphoria, melancholia, and despair. The audio component of the mix follows a similar route and features the three remixes from the recent 'T.O.M.B. Remixes' EP, featuring Ashtrejinkins, Mayurashka, and Sans Merit, alongside two songs from the original 'T.O.M.B.' LP, and 20 minutes of unreleased original music.
